DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the committee of the D.J.C., held on Tuesd'y, 7th inst., was attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair). Messrs Myers, Ewing, Coughlan, Hazlett, Bullock, and Miller. Two applications were received from persons wishing to purchase sections at Wingatui for building training stables. — After discussing the matter it was decided to refer it to the Finance Committee to bring up a report as to the desirability of selling any more ground and fixing the price of same. The transfers of the Wellington Park Stud Company's yearlings engaged in the Champagne Stakes of 1906 were passed, also the Stepniak — La Reine filly from the Hon. G. M'Lean to J. Loughlic The secretary was instructed to make inquiries from owners as to what support the club was likely to get if the hurdle races were retained on the next programme. The newly-formed Tokomairiro Hack Racing Club wrote asking if it could hold a meeting this season. The secretary reported having replied that according to " the rules the D.J.C. had no power to pass its programme. The club must first apply for registration, which was only considered at the arnual Racing Conference — The reply was approved. The Sub-committee reported that, after consideration, it had suspended J. Winkfield's jockey'? license till the end of the season. — Approved. The Stewards reported having suspended L. H. Hewitt for three months for foul riding at the late meeting; also that they had fined J. Pine £-2 for insulting behaviour to the president. — Approved.
