Fcbruaiy 2<3. — The monthly meeting of the Eoad Board was held on Saturday, <md was attended by ZSJ.es 3rs J. Dickson 'chairman), Wright, Il.irr'y, Macandrcw, and Septoa. The inspector's repoit was considered and adopted with slight alterations. Mr Palmer, Poitobcllo, asked permission to make a car., load to his dwelling on the Hoopex's Inlet Distiict road, and his request was granted. Tils inspector was instructed to take piocecdnigs against pei^ons who dumped docks or any other lubbish on the road if they lefused to
remove the same when ordered. A request by Mr North for permission to remove a sand mound on ihe Arthur Seat icad was granted provided he did not go below the level of the present foimation. It was resolved thft a meeting bo holJ on Monday, Februaiy 27, at 2 p.m. to inspect the slip on the Papanui District road at" Mr J. J. "M'Cartr.ey's pioperty, and to see what could be done to put the road m order, also to have the road opposite Mrs Garrick's property to the Native Reserve, Wickhffe Bay, surveyed. W. Clearwater wrote asking the board to fence in the quarry opened by the begird on his property — It was decided that the matter staud over till n-ext meeticg. A petition was received fiom three ratepayers and others in town asking the board to take no further action in making a by-lav piohibiting the running of motor cor? and bicycles on the Beach road. — The petition was considered, and the boaid decided ihat they had not exceeded their power, as the Beach road
was very dangerous for di Ivers . W. G. M'Carlrey wrote asking the board to refund him £2 2s spent for metalling the street leading to his property in Portcbello town. — The request was granted.
