NOTES BY TOUCHER.

The North-East Valley bowlers intend Opening their green on Saturday, March 18, when there is sure to be a good attendance of bowlers to see the new green. I am told that it is going to eclipse any of the other greens opened this season. Mr John Gebbie, a genial member of tho Caledonian Club, must be congratulated on his win in the Rinks on Saturday. The prizes have been well distributed this year in the different clubs — a fact which speaks well for bowling in general. For the past -week, though the weather was splendid, other sports gatherings leave but little to chronicle of interest to bowlers. The entries for the Southland Bowling Champion Fours have been extended to ths 27th March, there being only 20 entries to date, and as the conditions say 32 rinks aro to ta&s> part it is necessary to extend the time for receiving entries. , The Caledonian Club is to be congratulated this year on the manner in which the ties have been played off. There only remain to be played two finals — viz : Champion Singles (J. Cowie ancl D. Smith) and White Horse Whisky Bowls {J. Anderson and E. C. Hocking). The Kaituna Green is like the Caledonian this year — with only two semi-finals to be played off to finish the ties. The Dunedin Club paid a visit to tho southern districts, and had a very enjoyable time while away.
