Notes from Clyde. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
CLYDE, February2B. The Monte Christo dredge is still idle. Tha river appears to be low enough now to permit of work being started.
The , Matau dredge has undergone slight repairs and has resumed work in fairly good order.
The Unity dredge is having her screen removed for the purpose of repairs. Repairs are being effected to the Halfway House dredge, in order to have her in read! ness for the winter's operaVons. The Davis's Bend dredge is still idle.
Notes from Cromwell. CFbom Ours Own Coerespohdest.> CROIT^ELL, March 6. The weather is fine, and the river is failing^ steadily.
The Electric No. 1 dredge is now up to the lich ground which was left last year, but I do not expect such exceptionally rich ground ■will be -kicked up for a while, as there is a. slip just where the dredge is now. It is expected there is exceptionally rich ground just ahead -a bit. No. 2 dredge will not get started for a few weeks yet.
The Junction No. 2 dredge has been stoypecl through the hangers breaking, and the crew has been doing a few other repairs.
The Rise and Shine Company's dredges are both on good wash now. The No. 1 -as a veiy wide cut of nearly 200 yards. It 13 ricn on the west side and poor on the east.
