CLEARING SALE AT STATION PEAK. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

OAMARU, March 2.

The first day of the sale at Station Peak was held in fine weather, and in the presence of a lsrge number of fairners and dealers from all over North Otago and South Canterbury. The sheep were a very fair lot, and of the class that farmers in this district have found do well when brought down on to low country and good feed. Competition was very keen, and vahieo high from start to finish, the record being about established for the classes of sheep offered. Canterbury buyeis were present in large numbers, and, being deteimincd not to go ba>c*k empty-handed, secured a lar§3 proportion of the sheep offered the number of which was over 13,000.

The sale opener, with two lines of two-tooth halfbred ewes, which went at from 22s Gd to 23s lOd, Mr G. H. Vincent, of Timaru, beuu The purchaser oi 1000 at 23s Gel. Four-tooth halfbred ewes topped the market a-t 275, 3000 going at this price to Mr -John Small, Ash-b-arton, and the balance remaining at Kurow. The Hon. L. Walker, of Geraldine. became the owner of 500 «ix-tooth, ewes at 26s 7d, and of ox-er 3000 eight-tooths, the bulk went to Mr D. Miller, of Tln.fK at 22s 9d. up ito 23s 6d being secured for smaller lots. Full-mouthed ewes were sold in lots up to 746 at 19s 4d to 199 9tl, Cameibuiv buyers a.^tiin being the largest purchasers, whi** another pen of the same description was entirely annexed by northern men at 19s Gd to 19s Bd.
