Dear Dot, — The u-v..-. weekly meeting of the D.L.F. Literary and Debating Club was held iv the library of the Witness office on Tuesday evening, February 28. There were preseut of the committee — the president (Harry), in the chair ; Black Watch, A. Ned, T. D .A., Leonore, Tangles, C. C. M., and 32 members. Being open meeting, Black Watch contributed a paxser on "Johnny Lee" ; Jenmiie Deans, "How I Became a D.L.F." j Darky, "Sistera" (from a
'bad little boy's point of view); Darky's Brother, "Sisters as They Are" ; Jessica, ,'"ldeal Friendship" ; C. C. M., "Cheerfulness" , A. Ned, "Is Dairy-farming Profitable?" Cornish, "The Man Who Can't Sing and Will, or the Man Who Can Sing and Won't" ; and T. D. A., "The Secret of Happiness." A special vote of thanks was accorded Jessica, Darky, Darky's Brother, and Cornish for their splendid papers, which were much appreciated. The subject chosen for impromptu speeches was, "Are Women Vainer than Men?" A. Ned, Tangles, and T. D. A. gave the preference to the men being the vainer, and Recce, Brother Bill, and Texas Jack to the women. The decision as to which side had -won was left to the vote of the meeting, with the result that the majority voted in favour cf women being vainer than men. — Yours truly, THE DUKE'S AMUSER, v Secretary.
