THE SOUTH CANTERBURY MEETING.
The acceptances received for the South Canterbury Jockey Club's spring meeting are really excellent when compared witb the nominations received, and there is every piospcct of the club providing its patrons with some excellent sport. In the Timaru Handicap four New Zealand Cup candidates are engaged, and that fact considerably enhances the interest attached to the race. Secret Society may prove the best of these engaged in the race, and the other events may result :rs follows: — Hurdles, Pbaetontis ; Steeples, Rowlock ; Flying Handicap, Happy Home; Welter, Ability; Trot, Eilie.
