June 17. The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin, to be £32,465,000. The reserve is £24,846,000, the percentage of reserve to liabilities being 51.84. The notes in circulation total £2-1,092,000; public deposits, £8,198,00(5; other deposits, £39.600,000; Government securities, £16,088,000; and other securities, £23,092,000. Three months' bills, 2 1-16 per cent. Consols, £90 2s 6d.

Wheat: Acting iv sympathy with America, English and Continental wheat markets are dull, but easier. Australian cargoes afloat are quoted at 29s to 29s 4i-d; June and July shipments, 29s 3d to 29s 6d. Parcels afloat, 28s 9d. Sixteen thousand quarters of Victorian June and July sold at about 295. San Francisco wheat, 127-k cents. The American visible supply is 26,878,000 bushels. At the kauri gum- sales competition was slow, and prices rather easier. One thousand two hundred and sixty-seven esses were offered, and 150 sold; three-quarter scraood oidinary, fair, £107 10s to £120.
