DUNEDIN HOUSE SALEYARDS.

Mesois Wiight, St'-phcn&on, and Co. report as follows.— Althoigh theie wa» not a laige nvcaber of horses tarn aid for cur Hale on Saturday last — not more that 30 horses m^ll bsmg enteied, — tiieic was a veiy fair amount of business done. Particularly brisk was the bidding when nay good, light, harness hoises and hacks were offered, and every horse of this class with any pretensions to quality left the yaid under different ownership. The prices realised were exceedingly satisfactory, and we can strongly recommend owners of good, light hoises, whether bioken to hpmrsa or not to consign their animals to tLis rnaiket, with which Vve ?re pure that they will not be disappointed at the present time. For a bay gelding, by King Harold, six 3'ears, with a trial in harness — a speody mover and v>ith good style — we obtained £30; another bay gelding, six years, with a trial — a fine stamp, but not m sale condition, — realised ,£2B ss ; a bay gelding, four years, suitable for a gig, changed hands at £24 ; a mare, six years, by Kentucky, fetched £23: add a low-set gelding, by Shamrock, four years old, bioken to saddle only, found a new owner at £24 10s. We sold about a dozen other harness horse-s and hacks at prices ranging up to £19, and in e\ cry ca.=e the various vendors expressed their satisfaction with the prices. Draught hoises were also m demand at slightly batter prices than have been recently ruling, and although very few were entered — about half a dozen being submitted to public competition—all but two v. ere disposed of. Of those offered there were none, of more than ordmaiy quality, and prices realised were therefora not high, yet. considering the class, were satisfactory. One bay gelding, six years, from the Taien, vas sold at £±5, two active low-set mares realised £38 snd £37 respectively, and a spung-van gelding £J7. Others \. ere disposed of at quotations. There is a good demand for active faim hoi^es. raid we aie of opinion that a fair numbei could be paced to advantage. We may mention that we ha\ c a special buyer wanting eight to 10 supenor light harness horses, four to six ycais o'd, broken or unbroken, and we can recommend consignments of such. We quote: Superior young draught gelding:, £50 to £60; extia good, puze horses, £61 to .£7O; medium draught mares and geldings, £36 to £iO, aged do, £22 to £35; upstanding carriage hoises, £30 to £i 0; well-matched carriage pairs, £80 to £100, stiong spring-vm hoises, £25 to £40; milk-cart and butchers' orciti-c?rt horses, £18 to £30, tiara horses, £12 to £25; light hacks, ±10 to £15, exlra good hacks, £18 to £23, weedy pad aged hacks and up mess horses, M to £9.
