THE WOOL SALES.
LONDON, February 1
The wool sales closed extremely strong for all descriptions. February 2. The quantity of wool catalogued is 137,000 bales, sold for home consumption 6G..000 bales, for the Continent 60,000 bales, for America 5000 bales, and 6000 bales held over. Compared with December sales, merinos generally advanced 5 per cent., good scoureds occasionally advanced l^d, crossbred? (fine medium), fully 5 per cent., and coarse 10 per cent. The sales closed slightly weaker than the opening, but the tone of the market was healthy, and stronger than the quotations indicate. Prospects are more hopeful. The Ngntipa clip realised 7^d, and the Tenakoe 9^d.
