(c) This' move has been played often, notably in the Jdtdan v. Stawart, Wyllie v. Martins, and Jordan v. Freedman matches. In 1890 we scored a why from the veteran K. Martins by 11 15, as follows: —
(c) 26 22 is the -move adopted by Jordan Against Stewart, and Wyllie against Hart.us, both ending in draws. (d) The following variation was played in a match between Messrs C. Adainson (Levcn) and Ji. ilartins. The former varied as follows: —

(a) A fine, original and well-oonte3ted game from this point. In the great contest for the World's Championship, 1896, between Messrs H. Jordan and J- Ferric, 29 25 was played, followed by 5 9, and then fhe cut-up by 17 14, etc., jfrawn.—The People, London.
