We would ask farmers when sending samples always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers: — Wheat.—There is a little business passing in prime quality, but millers are only buying from hand to mouth. We ouote: Best velvet, 4s Id to 4s 3d; Tuscan, 4s to 4s Id; red | chaff, 4s to 4s Id; fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3d j (Eacks extra). Oats'.—There is a fair demand for all descriptions of good, bright feed, but dark and inferior sorts have very little attention. Prime " nulling, Is 8d to Is BJd; bright short feed, Is 7d to Is 7.1.d; medium and inferior, from Is 2d to Is 6dT Byecom.—Moderate offerings, 33 io 3s 23. Barley.—Market very dull, and no business 5» passing in the meantime. Lake 3, 3s 9d to 4s; oth=r districts, 3s io 3s Gd; feed, 2s 83. io 2s lCd. Chaff.—Prime quality, £2 17s 6d to £3; medium, £2 7s 6d to £2 15s-; straw chaff, £1 15s; pressed straw, £1 10s; pressed hay, £2 15s to ! £3 ss. Rysgrass.—Farmers' dressed, Is lOd to'2s 2d; extra quality, 2s 3d to 2s Sd; machine dressed, 3a to is 6d per bushel. Cocksfoot.—Farmers' undressed, 2Jd to 3Jd per lb; machined, 4|d to sd. Linseed.—From £8 to £10 pe. tos as per quality. " Chewings 1 Fescue.—Farmers' dressed, Id to ljd; machined, 3d to 3Jd. Potatoes.—Market well supplied. Prime. Oamaru grown are worth £1 to £4 ss; Canterburys, £3 15s to £1. Rabbitskms.—Suckers and runners, 3d io sd; summers, Gd to Bid; autumns, 9Jd to 13d; winters, 14^d to 16d; winter blacks, 24d to 26d; silver greys, 30d per lb. Sheepskins.—We hold sales every Tuesday. The demand is very keen, a.nd extreme prices are being paid. Pelta, Gd to Is 9d; crossbred, 2a to 3s 8d; extra, 3s 9d to 4s 3d. Hides.—We hold fortnightly sales, and quote Sgd to 6d, according to weight and condition. We hold auction sales every fortnight. Horsehair, 13Jd to 14Jd. Country sales conducted on most reasonable tenna. We can supply rabbit and sheep netting, oil cake, farmers' Fairbanks 4001b scales, £5 10s; Crown sheep dip—casks 3s per gallon, drum? 3s 6d; Berger's red and black sheepbranding oil, 4s per gallon; Gibson's cattle brand, 9s for small and 15s for large tins" Newton's patent wool presses, £13 each; clover, rape, and turnip seeds, all freshly landed. Prices on application. Stack covers 18 x 16 40j each. Our grass seed machinery is up to date, and a crusher and kibbler have been added. We invite all farmers interested in this important industry to come and inspect the machinery , any time they are in town. Storing grain we are prepared to store, receive, and deliver, insure, with three months' free storage, at 3d per sack. Our stores are vermin proof and connected with s.ding. FEUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. Butter.—Prime salt, from 8d to 9d. Fresh i butter in pats, storekeepers' lots, in good demand. We can place any quantity. Eggs.—There is a good inquiry, and all coming forward are easily placed. Cheese.—Factory, Gd lo 6Jd; dairy. s£d to 6d. Honey.—Demand is not very strong. Prices are ruling from 3Jd to 4d for good quality. Section honey in demand, 8s peT dozen pound ■ections. Beeswax, Is 2d to Is 4d. Onions.—Melbcurnes are quoted at Gs; Canterbury, £4 to £5 Walnuts, sid. Bacon.—Rolls, B}d to 9d. Hums, Od to 105 Pigs.—For sizes up to 1601b. first-cla^s dairyfeed quality, 5Jd wanted, over that weight prices lar.go from 3Jd to 4Jd. Butter boxes, with parchment linings, we can supply at 18s per dozen. Vickcry's egg preservative, 20s per case of 8 gallons Poultry.—ln good demand. Roosters, 33 to 3s 9d; hens, 2s to 2s Gd; ducks. 3a to 3s 6d; hen turkeys, 5d to Gd; cock turkeys, 8d to lOd. Wanted for South Africa 1000 pairs hens and roosters in good condition, minimum weight "Jib, at 2a Sd per pair; super chickens, 3s 9d, railage free on all birds parsed by Government grader; also 4lb ducks at 3s 9d per pair.
