CANINE TECHNICAL TERMS.
Apple Head — A rounded head. Brisket — The part of the body in front of the
chest. Brush— The tail. Butterfly Nose — A spotted nose. Button Ear— An ear the tip of which falls over
and covers the onfice. Cat Foot — A round foot. Cheeky — A dog is said to be cheeky when his
cheek pumps are strongly defined. Chops — The pendulous !ip9 of the bull-dog. Cow Hocks — Hocks that turn in. Dew Claws — The superfluous claws that often
appear above, the foot, on the inside of the
leg. Dish faced — A dog is said to bs dish-faced wh«n his nose is higher than his muzzle at the stop. Dudley Nose^ — A yellow or flesh-coloured nose. Elbow— The top jqint of tho leg, Feather — The haar at the back of the 1-egs and
under the tail. Flag — The tail of a setter. Flews^ — The pendulous lip of the b'oodhound
and other breeds. Frill — A mass of hair on the breast. Hare Foot-^A long foot. Haw — The red inside of the eyelid, shown in bloodhounds, St. Bernards, and some other breeds. Leather— The skin of the ear. Occiput — The projecting bone or bump at the
back of the head. Overshot — The upper te-eth projecting beyond
the under. Pig J«w — Same as over&hot. Rose Ear— An ear the tip of which turns back
ard shows the interior of the organ. Smudge Nose — A nose which is not wholly black but not spotted, giving the appearance of the bla-ck havirg been nibbed off. Stifles— Tho top joints of the hiiui legs. Stop — The indentation below the ej-es which is most perceptib'e in the bull-dog, but noticeable to «■ less extent in other breeds. Tulip Ear— An erect eraUndershot — The lower teeth projecting in front of the upper ones.
