An amateur boxing tournament took place at EvaiTsdale on Saturday, the 27th inst., in the presence of a large number of spectators. The competition was confined to pupils and expufuls of Mr W. Leckie. who has been conducting classes there during the winter months. The prizes were two gold medals— one for heht-vtt-igbla and one for be«.ry-weiglits. -The heavy-weight was won by James Leckie (expupil), with H. Howard (present pupil) eecoad , white the light-weight was won by Mr A Farquharaon (ex-pupil), who v?as runner-up in ihe competition at Ckriskfourch Ust August), with A. Campbell (prssent pupil) second. It is tho intention of Mr Leckie to continue these competitions during the waiter months.
