Great Balder comes to die' He, the southward way has wended.; Kiwa's mourning, dark and splendid, Holds the gates of rose and pear! ; Thrall and bard and thane and earl Pine and pass into the .Ncr'land-. fJrcat Balder comes to die! Xot the North shall wholly keep him; Taniwha and Toai weop him; Kiwa's serpents give him wail, — Leafjuc-long, holy, white, and- hale. Crawling, breaking, eobbii:g, dying! Great Balder comes to die! Burns the west; and, calm and steady, Bald&r's ship of fire is ready : Balder lies upon the deck; Ai:d, red with pride and .uth ajul v.-icck, Eurth and heavens meet together.
