ABITUARY.

Mr 3 Julius Hyman, an old and respected rEtident of Dunedin, died on Wed> nesday morning ~.t her residence in London street. The deceased ladj was born in 3X90, and was married^ in 1850. She was the cmly daugh-< ter of Rabbi Danzigger, of the city of I Dantzic. She arrived in Victoria in 1852 with her husband, and 10 years later came to Dunedin. Since retiring from business the deceased lady has devoted much of her time to charitable works, and she was a worthy helpmeet to her husband in his position as president of the Jewish congregation. Mr and Mra Hyman celebrated their golden wedding in 1900, . when ' the service in the Synagogue was followed by 'a conversazione in the Choral Hall, at which citizens of all classes and cre*ds tendered their congratulations. The death of their son while in England in 1879 was a severe blow to the worthy couple.

An old Waimate settler died cm the 2711 i ult. in the person of Mr W. Corcoran, who has been in New Zealand about 40 years. He was a quiet, retiring man, and was unmarried.

Another old N'orih Otago identity in the person of Mr J<imes M'Lean, of Allday Bay, passed o\er to the sii&ut majority on Tuesday at tho age -of 66. He had been somo 50 years in the district, and was much respected. He leaves a widow and 10 grown-up children to mourn him.

The death is reported of Mr Robert Kin<r, third son of Mr James King, of Btnhar. Deceased had been in bad health for two yrars, and «-uccnmbed to internal complications last Friday, afc the early ag& of 31. Ho was uniiersally liked by all who knew him, and bis untimely demise is greatly deplored.

Mr John M'Donnell. jun., of Bald Hill Flat, died on the 22nd ult. quite suddenly. Ho was universally esteemed for his kindly disposition, and will be much missed. He was only 23 years of age. Mrs Churstain. an esteemed resident of Alexandra, passed away on the 23rd ult. after a short illness. Deceased was very highly esteemed by all with whom she came in contact.

On the 23rd of last month John Wrightson, an old pioneer of Cromwell, died, aged 72 years, after having been in Australasia, for about half a century a-nd m Cromwell some 40 years. H& was very well known in sporting circles.
