Notes from Roxburgh.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ROXBURGH, March 4.
The overhauling of the Teviot dredge was completed yesterday afternoon, and she made a fresh start dredging last night. The Ettrick dredge also started again yesterday, the ne,w elevator tumbler having been fitted up. Work has been delayed a little on the Endeavour dredge owing to the non-arrival of the buckets. One load came forward, however, yesterday, and another load is expected to-day. The Golden Run dredge is still idle owing to the hangers breaking and the ladder being damaged several days ago. March 6. A start was made yesterday by the manager of the Molyneux Kohinoor to get the dredge ready to commence work. The Jubilee dredge has had a good bit of broken time this week through the re-lipping of the buckets. She will wash up to-morrow, and likely to obtain from 40oz to 50oz. The Teviot dredge washed up to-day for a return of 30oz for two and a-haH days. The Ladysmith Company had the splendid return of lOOoz for the past four weeks. This is very good for four men working nine hours a day, and argues well for big returns when the extra water is brought in and the plant is kept running for the 24 hours.
