A MAIDEN'S CHOICE.
I bring two gifts to lay at your feet: Say, which will you choose, oh, maiden sweet? Arose fresh pluok'd from its dewy stem Or thia ring of gold with its glowing gem? The rose you'll wear on your heart a day, Then its petals droop and fall away. "Yes," said, the maid, "but with sun and rain Roses will.bloom in the summer again." But my ring is of the purest goldIts gem was formed in the ages old. "Yes," said the maiden again, "but then Your ring was made by the hands of men."
