Mr A. L. D. Fraser asks tha Native Minister whether he received a letter, dated the 12th February, 190?, signed by Thomas R. Ellison, re the Otakou " tenths," and if so will he inform the Hou=e what it is proposed to do to meet the recommendation of the Native Affairs Committee thereon? The Hon. Mr Carroll said it was not intended to go behind the report of the committee, and the Government were considering the interests of tho Natives concerned, inasmuch ac they were gradually setting aside certain lands on their behalf
Mr Parana asked the Nathe Minister whether the Government Jip.d decided to proceed with the erp-otion of the Maori hostelry at the Bluff for the use of the Natives resident at Stewart Island, Ruapuke. and other kaiugas in the province of Southland. The Hon. Mr Carroll said the Government bad decided to erect the hostelry forthwith, and tenders would be called for soon.
