OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The- usual weekly meeting of the Land Board, held at the Lon-d Office on Wednesday, was attended by the Chief Commissioner v Mr D. Bai-ron) and Messrs Duncon, Dallas, and Kirkpatuck.

M. Franklin applied to be allowed to acquire under occupation with right of purchase tenure the area of two acres at present held by him under yearly kcenße m block VI, Tuapekx West district.— Referred to Mr M'Lean for report. The application by D. Ross to subdivide his small grazing Tim, section 6, block VIII, Dunback district, between his two sons, George Rosb and D. Ross, jun., was declined. The application by Edward Clark for exemption from residence on his small gTazing run, sections 79 and 81, block VIII, Makareao district, was left to the chairman to deal with. Samuel Trusler wrote asking to be allowed to cultivate section 26, block X, Waiptiu district, held by him under temporary hesnae — Declined. The Receiver of Land Revenue lcport^d that G. Huxford, whose l«ase in perpetuity No. 7703 was declared forfeited for non-payment of rent, has now paid all arieara.— Forfeiture rescinded.

The board was rfquested to authorise the Receiver of Land Revenue to deal With the sum of "55 225, valuation lodged for mprovements on sections 2, 3, and 4, block VI, Lower Wanaka district.— To appropriate the amounts as follow —Arrears of rent, £1 16s lOd ; reentry, £1 103 ; balance to F. W. Goodall, £46 5s 2d.

A memo, from the Under-secretary of Mines in regard to an application by George Stringer to have the reserve removed from sections 7 and 18, block 11, Tiger Hill district, was considered. — Cancellation of mining reserve over sections 7, 14, 15, and 18, block 11, recommended.

The application by Thomas Wood for an occupation lease under The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act. 1894," over 70 acres in block V, Cromwell dibtuct, Run No. 245 d, was referred to the ranger for report. M. A. Bryant wrote in regard to her application for a small area on Run No. 419, Kinloch.--Ranjter to visit ground and report. Kobert Cowie wrote in regaid to the boundary between Runs 51 and 518, Tuaprka East district, and again urging tho board to have the boundary properly defined. — Referred to chief surveyor to have boundary deSr.pd.

David Kirk applied to be allovrpd tn dear and sow down in grass a portion of section 15, block VIII, G-lenkemch district, gravel reserve. — Declined.

F. G. Harrex wrote applying for an area of about 310 acres on Bun No.. 225 c, adjoining the small grazing run at present held by him. No. 225 d, Blackstone d-slrict.— Held over for further inquiry. Ranger Hugban reported that John Harris had now effected the requned improvements on sections 32 to 37, block VIII, Crookston district.— Received.

The Waihemo County Council relumed n petition from settlers at Puket*pu, and stated that a grant of £2rX> has been applied for, for the purpose of gravelling the loads referred tc by the petitioners. — Received. Ranger Atkinsou reported on the application by Messrs Kenyon and Hosking. Oil behalf of Charles Calvert, for a hcen=e to remove etono for lime-burn nig from sect. on -19, block VI, Oamarn district. -Granted, smbj.-ci, to a royalts' of 3d per ton, or a lump sum. of £37 10s. Ranger Atkinson imported on the application by Donald CnalniPrs for a hemse to occupy the- small portion of the mining reserve in block X, Kurow district, at present held under license by E. O A. Hille; and also upon tha application by E. G. A. Hille to transfer the said license to Henry M'Lennan.— Transfer declined. Chalmers's ap'plieation held over.

Thomas H. Erskme applied for a graring license for two mouths over sections 12 and 13, block XIII. Pomahaka Downs estate. -License apDroved till 31et October, at rental of £2 10s.
