WAITATI.

June 28. — After a week's hard frost, on Tuesday heavy rain set in*, and tho visitors to Dunedin found that they had exchanged very muddy country roads for very dirty town j>avements. Through the inclemency of the weather many who had arranged to make a week's stay in town were glad to shorten their visit and return home.

Coronation. — The illness of the King caused deep sorrow in Waitati, as in all other parts of Kew Zealand, and indeed of the world. Many people from this district had made preparations to witness the festivities in Duuedin. Some had gone in early in the week, and others intended to be there on Thursday. Consequently much disappointment was felt when, Wednesday morning's express brought the news of the postponement of the Coronation, but all personal feelings were set aside when we learnt that the cause of the postponement waa the illness of the King. The morning and evening papers are eagerly awaited, and greit interest is being taken in the bulletins. May God m his mercy answer the universal prayer. — " God save our gracious King,

Long live our noble King, God save the King."

Show. — The Winter ,show has always an attraction for local farmers, end~-»lthough there were not many entries from Waitati, I noticed several Blueskin settlers who seemed greatly interested in tho exhibits.

Our Brave Boya. — This evening (Friday) there ia to be a meeting at Saratoga House to arrange for tho reception of our returned troopers.
