June 26. The Stock Exchange and all markets and shipping houses are closed till Monday. Consols are quoted at £96. Other stocks are unchanged. Three months' bills are discounted at 2f per cent. Sugar is weak. German, 6s ; first, marksj 7s 6d. The wheat markets are quiet, but firm. Cargoes are steady. Victorian and South Australian February and March shipments Fold at 30s 6d. The American visible supply is 28,007,000 bushels. Lead is £11 o«. All other markets are unchanged. Frozen Meat. — Mutton : Crossbred wethei's and maiden ewes — Canterbury, 3gd ; Dunedin and Southland, 3|d ; North Island, 3|d. Lamb : Prime Canterbury, 4f d ; fair average (including Dunediu, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury), 4£d. River Plate crossbred or merino wethers (heavy and light), 3jjjd. New Zealand beef (1801b to 2201b, fair average quality): Ox fores, 3-Jd; ox hinds, 4id. June 29. The Bank of England returns show that the stock of coin aud bullion totals £35,410,000 and the reserve £25,192,000. The proportion of reserves to liabilities is 43.78. The notes in circulation amount to £30,360,000, the public deposits to £12,988,000,' and other doposits £44,323,000 ; Government securities, £14,790,000; ether deposits-, £35,290,000. Silver is quoted at 2s 0 o-16d. per oz.
