Death Rates.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, I see it is recorded that in London last January 137 deaths took place from smallpox I contrast with this what occurred m Glasgow m January, 1848, from cholera. The pooulution was then about 360,000, and the deaths daily were over 100. One day, the highest, the deaths were, I think, 246. One profe=sov XJames Thomson, Lord Kelvin's f?ther) and many students died from the High street Lni,versity. The benches m the class rooms were inalf empty. But those of us who looked out for our digestion enjoyed the best of health. — I am, etc., Bodach. April 5, 1902
