MOONLIGHT.

September 28. — A most painful accident that lias terminated lataliy occurred here on Wednesday. It appears that Mr Geddes was removing his threshing plant — a. ti-action engine, mill, and trolly — from. Mr Dodds's just about dinner time. He told the men they could go and have dinner at Dodds's, and he would go on to the next place, so as to lose as little •time as possible. One of the men named James Williamson volunteered to accompany Mr Geddes to open the gates, etc. All went ■well until they reached the main road, when there were no more gates to open, and Williamson went behind to get on the trolly, the whole affair being in motion. Somehow he missed liis footing and fell on the v oad, the wheel of the trolly passing over him and breaking liis leg, and cutting him severely in other parts of his body. Mr Geddes heard his cry, and immediately stopped the engine, and on looking behind saw poor Williamson lying on the xoad. By this time the rest of the hands •were on the scene, and a springcart was procured, and Williamson, taken to Macraes, and thence to the hospital, where I learn he lias since died. Much Tegret is expressed at the occurrence, as deceased was a very decent and inoffensive old man. He must have been over 65 years of. age, ps he was in receipt of the old age pension. No blame is attached to anyone, and Hr Geddes was very much concerned.
