THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27.
The Legislative Council got through a great deal of business on Thursday. The Shops and Offices., Public Health, and Hospital- and Charitable Aid Bills were passed. The Public Health Bill was amended in a manner which is likely to force the Dunedin City Council to proceed at a very early date with a pioper drainage scheme. The Municipal Corporations, Indictable Offences Summary Jurisdiction, Inspection of Machinery, Local Bodiss Loans, Slaughtering and Inspection, and the Trading Stamps Abolition Bills were all read v second time.
SHOPS AND OFFICES.
On the motion of the Hon. Mr BONAR, the .Shops and Office! Bill wos recommitted, ncl clause 43, which empowers the Governor to make regulations under the act, was amended, the power to impose j>enalties being withdrawn. The bill was then read a third time and passed.
