THE A.J.C. WEIGHT-FORAGE RACES

Paul Pry started at 5 to 2 on for the Craven Plate. The other runners were Mora, The Chief, Vocalist, and Reviver. Sydney Morning Herald reports that The Clnex moved off in front, Jput was soon passed by Mora, who led Paul Pry two lengths past the mile post, the other three being bunched, a 'similar distanoe off. At a sound pace they raced along the back stretch, Mora still leading by two lengths from the favourite, The Chief following at a similar interval, and a like distance away came Reviver and Vocilist. , Save that The Chief joined Vocalist and Reviver in the rear, there was no change till they had passed the half -mile post, where the favotiriie ranged np alongside of Mora, passed the maro as they swung round the" bend, and cantered home alone, 10 lengths from Mora., who beat The Chief by two lengths for second place, with Vocalist and Reviver a length off. Time, 2min BAsec. — For the Wycombe Stakes, a inilo and three furlongs, the starters were: Paul Pry 9.11, Tarquin 9.9, Dandy 8.6, Severity 9.1, "War God 8.8, Barbarossa 7.9, and San Fran 7.2. Paul Pry's price was sto 4 against. War God rattled along in front past OxenhaTn's, the other positions being unchanged, but as they neared the mile post San Fran shot through and led past that point, with War God ai his heels, and two lengths from the favourite, who had "Barbprossa and Severity just iii his wake, a length from Tarquin, with Dandy last. Without change the7,r ran to the six-furlongs post, where War God dropped back, and Tarquin ran into third place, two' lengths behind the favourite ; bttt at the end of the next furlong Paul Pry drew tip level with San Fran, the nair being three lengths from Tarquin. and two lengths farther astern came Severity, Barbarobsa, and War God. with Dandy still in the rear. Before the half-mile post was reached the favourite drew eleor from San ilran, and after a gap of four lengths came Tarquin, and with a two-len%ths' lead from San Fran, Ppul Pry showed the way round the bend. Tarquin was a similar distance off, and after a gap came Severity and Barbarossa. Paul Pry was not afterwards troubled, and coming along in grand style, passed the post a length in front of Barbarossa, who had San Fran at his girths. Dfiidy was only beaten by a head for third place, and after a gap of 10 lengths followed Tarquin and War God, with Severity three lengths away last. Time, 2min 22^sec. — Ihe four starters for the Randwick Plate, tv.'o miles and a-quarter,, were : Tarquin 9.8, Paul Pry 9.5, Dandy 9.3. and Barbarossa. 7.4. Even money was obtainable about Paul Pry. They went off at almost a walk, with Barbarossa in the lead, but the pace increased to a very slow canter, and, passing the six-furlongs post, Barbarossa was 10 lengths from the favourite, after whom came Tarquin with Dandy last. Still can-tering slowly they came round the bond and into the straight, where Barbarossa swung out very wide and lost a lot of "ground. The favourite was then left in front, and, at once setting to work with a will, set a sound pace past the judge's box a couple of lengths from Tavquin, who was a, similar distance in front of Barba-rossa, with Dandy a dozen lengths awoy. In that order they raced until nearing the seven-furlongs post, where Barbarossa ran up to Tarquin, the favourite still holding his two-lengths advantage, and so they nep-otialed the back stretch, came past tho sheds, and swept round the home turn, where the colt again swung out nearly to the boundary. In the meantime Paul Pry was galloping alona; with plenty in hand, and passed- the post seven lengths clear from Torquin. while Barbaros=a. who finished right on the outer rail, was 10 lengths farther back, and just in front of Dandy. Time, 4min 43sec.
