Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. report for week ending May 30: —
Wheat. — There is a good demand for prime qualities, but medium and inferior sorts aie quite neglected. The demand for fowl feed is fairly active. We quote: Best velvet, 2-3 s|d to 2s 6kl; medium, 2s 4d to 2s sd; best Tuscan, 2s 6d to 2s 7d; medium, 2s sd; fowl -wheat, Is lOd to 2s. Oats : Owing to the Sydney market being practically closed, and orders for South Africa being filled in the meantime, the demand is not active, buyers only operating for immediate requirements. We quote : Best feed, Is 7Jd; medium and inferior, Is 3d to Is 7d per bushel; Sutherlands, Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley : Prime samples have now some attention, but in medium qualities there is little business passing. Feed sorts are quoted at Is 6d to Is 9d; milling, Is * lOd to 2s ; prime malting, 2s Gd to 2s 9d; Lakes, 3s to 3s 3d per bushel. Eyecorn, nominally, 2s to 2s 6d, no sale. Flour: We quote £6 10s. Oatmeal m 25's, £11. Pearl barley, £10 10s. Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £i. Nelson hops are quoted at lOd to lid (f.o.b). Chafi: Good demand for "best qualities. Prime S3. 12s 6d to £2 15s; medium, £2 to £2 10s. Eyegrass: Buyers] ideas of values are : For farmers' dressed, Is 2d to Is sd; extra, to Is 9d; machined, 2s to 2s 3d; extra, 2s 6d per bushel. We have a good inquiry. Cocksfoot, 2Jd to 3d for farmers' lots, and 4d to 5d for , machined. Linseed, £10 to £12. Pressed ] straw, 27s 6d. Clover hay, £3 to £3 ss. Nitrate i of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., till fresh, up to . £0, ss. Potatoes. — Prime Derwcnts, JE2 10s ; kidneys, 60s to 355. Hides, 4d to 4|d, according to weight r.nd condition. Tallow. — Eough fat, 13s to Us; rendered, 15s to 18s; extra, to 20s per cwt. Horsehair, Is 2d to Is 4d. Sheepskins. — Crossbreds, 2s 3d to 3s 4d; * extra, to 3s Bd. Lambskins, Is 4d to 2? 9d; ' extra, to 3s 4d. Pelts, 6d to 2s. We held our usual sale of skins on Tuesday, when there was a good demand. Rabbitskms — We offered a good catalogue this week, and, after good competition, cleared the lot at quotations. Summer, from Gd to 8d; small, 3d to sd ; autumns, 9d to- lid; early j •winters, 12d to 13jUl per lb. | We have now erected a complete clover-clean- j ing plant, and all our other machinery up-to- i date is the finest plant m the Southern Hemis- j phere.
