THE ROPE WORKS PICNIC.
The employees of Donaghy's Rope and Twine Company (Limited) and their friends held their fifth annual picnic at Brighton last Saturday. Six drags and four carriages were in requisition to convey the picnickers, who numbered over 100, to their destination. The glorious weather, combined with the completeness of the arrangements, made the day's outing most enjoyable. During the day some excellent bagpipe music was rendered by Piper M'Kechnie. At the termination of the sports three hearty cheers were given for the Hon. A. Lee Smith and Mr James L. Passmore respectively, and a vote of thanks was passed to them for their usual liberal donation towards the picnic fund. Home was reached at 8 p.m., when all departed for their respective abodes fully convinced of the success of the outing.
