The start was delayed fully five minutes, and when the field lined up to the barrier, Watchdog, Saraswati, and Amourette were on the rails, Fleet Admiral and Olaf on the extreme outside, and Cornquist, Blunderer, Marie Corel li, and Songbird in the centre. At the rise of the barrier Y/atchdog, Amourette, Neva, Olaf, and Pretoiious wore the first- away, but crossing the tan Watchdog was leading Saraswati, Stand Off, Neva, Amourette, Venda, and Cornquist. After covering half a mile Watchdog was still leading, his noavest attendant being Saraswati, Stand Off, Amourette, Keyless, Neva, and Blunderer-. At the distance Watchdog was well clear of his opponents, the nearest being Stand Off, Saraswati, and Amourette. Mr Forrester's gelding came on, and won by three lengths, a length sepaiating second and third, and a short head between

third and fourth. Then followed Fleet Admiral, Neva, Keyless, Once More, and Blunderer. The last four were Jadoo, Wild Olive, Pretorious, Marie Coralie. Time, Imin 16sec.
