A strange affair was witnessed at the Tauranga races. In the Steeplechase, in which there were three competitors — Natation, Clyde, and Captor — the latter lost his rider at the first hurdle ; Natation then got half a mile lead, when Rae, his jockey, slowed to a canter, and Clyde baulked repeatedly, but a-quarter of a mile from homo caught Natation, and won.
