SALE AT THE CAMP, PENINSULA.

Messrs? Wright, Stephenson, and Co. (in conjunction, with the Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited) report as follows: — Under instructions from Mr Richard Mitchell, wa offered the whole of his dairy cattle, sheep, and horses at the Camp yards on Wednesday. There, was a large attendance, chiefly of local settlers, at the sale, and as dairying is the main occupation of the Peninsula men, there was an excellent sale for the cattle, nearly all of which changed hands at very satisfactory price 3. First-class cows in full milk or close to calving brought from £b to £6 12s 6d ; spring calvers, £8 to M 10s; calves, 15s to 255. For the sheep, and horses there were no buyers, and both consequently were withdrawn. The failure of buyers to attend for these descriptions of stock was not due to absence of demand, but to the inaccessibility of the Peninsula to the great majority of horse and sheep buyers. For buyers from a distance to attend a sale at a distancejmeans a loss of practically three days. It is not surprising, therefore, under the circumstances, that no sales of MiMitchell's sheep and horses were effected on Wednesday. —
