PALMERSTON SALES.

Messi'3 Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows: —We held our monthly sale at M'Kay's yards yesterday, and it was the' largest and most successful sale held at Palmerston for the last three years. The yards were completely filled, and several lots of sheep had to bo held outside until ,they were sold. The entry of sheep comprised 2100 all told, and tho prices were very satisfactory throughout, every sheep finding a ready purchaser at full market ratep. Cattle were also a. good show, about 200 head being offered. The following were the ruling prices : — Three-year-old steers at from £4 18s to £5 ss; two-year-old do, £3 10s to £4. 2s 6d ; yeai lings, from £2 2s 6d to £2 17s Gd ; three-year-old heifers, from £4 10s to £5 10s ; two-year-old do, £3 to £4 2s Gd; dairy cows, from £2 10s to £5 15s, according to quality. Sheep: We sold for Mr H. R. Parker (Clover Hills) 150 cull lambs at Cs 8d; Mr dames Chapman (Sconebuui), 180 two and four-tooth halfbred wethers at 12s 7d, 250 four and sixtooth merino wethers at 10s; Mrs Russell (,Shag "Valley), 50 two and four-tooth wethers at 12s Bd, S5 merino ewes, broken-mouthed, at 5s 4d, 95 crossbred lambs at 9s lOd, 30 do culls at 6s 7d; Mr James Geddes (Palmerston), 62 crossbred and halfbred ewes at ]3s 6J, 70 lambs at 10s 6d; Mr John Duncan (Dunback), 50 twotooth wethers and maiden ewes p.t 12s 9d, 41 full-mouthed haflbred ewes at 9s Id; Mr Peter Arnott (Shag Valley), 50 cross bi eel lambs at 10s Id; Mr Matthew Lee (Green Valley), 40 two and four-tooth halfbred wethers at 12s 7d, 80 lambs at 9s lOd, 4 rr.in lambs at 9s; MiGeorge Dem (Gieen Valley), 53 two, four, and full-mouthed halfbred ewes at 9s lid, 70 lambs at 10& Id.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report having held their ucual monthly sale at Palnierston on Monday, Gth March, when they cold by auction and privately 1680 sheep, and 80 head cattle. There was a large attendance of buyers from north and south, together with farmers from the surioundmg distucts. The demand for sheep was veiy keen, and ev&iy lot found buyers at highly satisfactory prices to the vendors. Cattle were slightly easier from last sale, owing, no doubt, to the large number yarded. We sold crossbred ewes, two, four, and six-toofch, at 14s; crossbred ewes, fullmouth, from 9s to lls 6d; crossbred lambs, from 9s Id to 10s; three and four-year-old bullocks from £6 to £4 19s; heifcr3 and cows, from £3 Ss to £5.
