SALE AT CHINGFORD, NORTH-EAST VALLEY.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows: —We held a clearreg-cut sale of hghi/ horses, carriages, harness, dairy slock, etc., on account of Mr P. C. Ncill (who is leaving for England), at hi^ Chmgford estate, NorthEast "Vallej-, on Monday. Thexe wa& an excellent unifier ot buyers, including a goodly proporC.on of up-eouuky settlers. 'Iho horses, harncs3, and dairy cows sold well, but the competition for Mr Keill's iinglish-built carriage (Silk and Sons) and for tho shooting dogcart (Howes and Son, Bristol) was disappointing, tho foimer, costing £300 in England, being passed in at £63, and the latter at £33. Both are now for private sale. The horses sold well — one five-year-old Wicklow gelding at £31, three others at J:2Q a-piece, and two more at JIS and .£ll 10s respectively. The dairy stock, being well bred and in prime condition, brought good prices, cows in full milk fetching .£8 to £7 03, dry cows £3 15s to £5 10s, and 18 months old heifers £Z 7s Od each. Harness, saddlery, stable utensils, pigs, and poultry brought full values.
