PRESENTATION TO THE HON. J. G. WARD.

THE PREMIER ON FINANCE AND DEFENCE.

AUCKLAND, March 4,

The Hon. J. G. Waul, Minister of Railways, was ye&terday afternoon the recipient of a handsome presentation from the Liberals of Auckland in celebration of his rejoining the Seddon -Ministry. The presentation consisted of a beautifully-finished gold medal with a gold sovereign case attached, enclosed in a silver casket. The medal i^ a massive gold one, with two clasps bearing Ihe dates 1891 and 1899. On one side of the medal is shown locomotives and an engine with the inscription "' Hon. J. G. Ward, Minister of JRailAvays, rejoined the Ministry 21st December, 1899." "On the reverse aide is a picture of the Auckland general post office, and the words " Hon. J. G. Ward, Po&tmaslergeneral. From friends — Liberal party." The medal is in a handsome solid silver casket, which is inscribed : " Hon. J. G. Ward. Presented March 3, 1900." The gentlemen present were the Premier, Hon. James Carroll, Hon. W. P. Jennings, M.L.U., Messrs W. J. Napier, M.H.R., J. Witheford (chairman of the Harbour Board), and a number of other leading citizens.
