OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SO C I ETY.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held in the Agricultural Hall board room on Saturday morning, and attended by Messrs A. C. Stronach (president,, in the chair), T. Brydone, H. F. Fulton, George Roberts, A. C. Begg, Jas. Shiel, James Ross, A. Johnson, R. Campbell, W. Patrick, James Gow, W- Charters', J. Lethbridge, A. Todd, and J. Wright. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs- J. Angus, W. Blackie, C. S. Reid, and H. M. Driver.

A considerable amount of correspondence was received, and dealt with by the committee. The secretary of the National Sheep Breeders' Association wrote asking the society to" send a delegate to attend the International Conference to be held at the Boyal Agricultural Society's meeting in June to discuss questions affecting the interests of shee.p breeders generally. — It was unanimously decided that Mr R. M. Turnbull, who* is now on a visit to the home country, be requested to attend and represent this society at that conference, and the secretary was instructed to notify the association at Hcme.

Mr C. Weyth wrote, making several suggestions in connection with the forthcoming winter show, which were referred to the subcommittee for their consideration.

The Secretary of the Canterbury Jubilee Industrial Exhibition wrote forwarding several prospectuses of their forthcoming exhibition. — The secretary was instructed to forward these to the principal manufacturers in this city.

The Timaru A. and P. Association wrote forwarding a copy of a petition requesting the House to pass a measure to totally abolish bogus bidding at auctior sales. — The matter was considered at some length, and it was unanimously decided that the letter be received.

The Director of the Lincoln College v/rote forwarding full particulars of the board's scholarships, and requesting the committee's assistance, and pointing out the advantages to be derived from attending a course of instruction at the Lincoln College.

The secretary of the Wyndham Dairy Factory wiote suggesting that all dairy factories be at once advised or the full particulars of the various competitions in cheese, and thus enable them to have ample time to prepare. — The secretary was instructed to thank Mr M'Lauchlan for his siiggestions, and at once send particulars to -the various factories.

J. M'Naim and Co. wrote in reference to sales of cheese ancl butter, their communication being noted.

Several other matters were referred to the executive to deal with.

The annual ram and ewe fair was fixed to be held at Bumside yards on Thursday, March 22, and a subcommittee was appointed to levise and issue a schedule for the forthcoming wmter show and fat stock competition.
