DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs Wright, Steplienson, and Co. report as follows:—The entries for this week's sale were not so numerous as its piedecesrfoi, still there was a very fair muster of horses, and as the supply was made up for the most part of coimtiy consignments, from Tuapeka, Tokomairiro, North Canterbury, and Hampden, a good ?,mount of tiadc was done. Buyers tor almost all classes were present m force, and sales were not difficult to effect where vendors wore rea- ; sonable in their ideas of values. A few heavy draught geldings, six and seven-year-old horses, the only ones ioiwaid, were sold at from £37 to £15; one heavy spring-van mare brought £33, and about a scoie of useful hacks and harness horses were sold at from £10 to £18, and a couple of extra good remounts privately at £25 and £22 respectively. Most of the light harness horses were solcl for the up-country rabbit trade. The demand for all classes of horses has been more active during the past fortnight than we have seen, it for some mouths. commend our counliy friends to send in at once any good draughts or light horses they have for sale. We quote: Superior voting draught geldings £4-0 to £45; extra good, prize horse^, £"-b to £50; medium draught mares and geldings, £30 to £38; aged do, £20 to £27; upstanding carriage hoi-acs, £25 to £30: well-matched carriage pair*, £50 to £60; .strong spring van horses, £22 to £28; milk cart and butchers' order oarl horses, £15 to £20; tram horses. £8 to £12; light hacks. £6 to £10; extra good do, £15 to £25; weedy and aged hacks and liar-liC-jS horses, £2 to £5.
