SALE OF LEASEHOLD FARM, GROWING CROPS, LIVE STOCK, ETC.
Messrs Wright, Steplienson, and Co. report as follows: — The sale of the lease of Brooinlands farm, near Mosgiel, together with the growing crops and live stock, held by us to-day, by order of the executrix of the late Mr Jas. Wright, attracted a veiy large attendance of settlers from far and near, and was in every way successful. The first lot offered was the goodwill of the lease of the farm, having five years to mil at an annual rental of. £157 10s, and after spirited competition, in which three well-known Taieri farmers took part, it passed into the hands of Mr V. J. Wiight at £135 premium. Foi the growing crops the competition was not so brisk, and they were disposed of as follows'—3o acres oats at £2 10s per acre, 27 do £2 do, 21 do £2 2s do, and 14 do (late sown) al ]5s do. Next came the horses and dairy cattle, and both weie iDiesented to the public in splendid condition. The competition right thiough was most spirited, especially so in the case oi the working draught horses. The^e realised from X'lo to £45, whilst a yearling filly, by the well-known Ury Park stud horse Lord Lyon, fetched £25, and a young fo?l by the same sire £0. The light hoises were only of medium quality, and were sold at from £8 to £14 10s. A vevy promising yearling filly by General Tracy realised £10. Between 60 and 70 dairy cows wore offered singly, and were sold at from £2 10s to £6 15s. Sixty-eight head of store cattle were disposed of as follows :—5 two-arjd-a-half-year-old steers at £5 2s 6d, 1-i eighteen months' old do £3 6s, 21 do heifers £2 11s, 3 very forward cows at £3 17s, and 25 calves at 13s. The pigs, farming implements, and dairy utensils brought full values. j
