The Manager of the Big River Company reports for the week: " Since the last report we have driven 10ft on the reef. In the lower j intermediate the stone is sft wide, and carries • fair gold. Six men are now stoping out under i No. 5. The stone here is of poor quality. The j stone over No. 5 level is getting small, and i shows signs of cutting out. We are driving No. 5 level, and have about a foot of stone show- ] ing gold. The contractors made a start in No. 2 level yesterday (Thursday). The battery was ; started on Tuesday morning, but there will be no scraping of the plates this week."
