Mr W. R. Cook, secretary, reports that the . fret, which has kept the company's claim idle i all throv~h August, relaxed on the 26th, and ' the manager was enabled to clean \xp the No. ; 2 paddock for 3Soz 6dwt lOgr gold. It will be ' remembered that in the midst of cleaning up j for July frost seized this paddock, so that its ' yield properly belongs to the Jixly output, 760z 17dwt 4gr of which has already been reported, the total therefore being 116oz 3dwt 14gr. The above is the yield for 209 sluicing hours from 2So 2 'elevator, whilst a few ounces are still in the blanketings, which are not yet sufficiently thawed. The winter has been more thin usually severe, but notwithstanding the severity of the frost in the ranges there has been ample water in the stream all through | the winter to continue operations, if it had s loeea possible to keep the race and fiimiing free from ice.
