DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunediu Jockey Club, held on Thursday, was attended by Messrs H. Gourley (vice-pretident, in Ih? chft'i 1 ), Taggarh, Coi-ghlau, Short, Myers, Msenan, Gcindley, and M-l'er. Apologies were rtcuived for the absence of Messrs Sinclair Thomson and Solcmcn.

The following officers were reapf oiuted • — Secretary, Mr Sydney J.imes ; assistant secretary, Mr H. L. Jsmes ; handica^er, Mr G. Don'Ee.

Messrs Miller, Solomon, Short, Thomson, and Myers were appointed a Programme Committee.

It was resolved that the appointment* of other officers and sub-cci: m ttecs bo deferred to a fubure meeting. The question o? fixing dales for the club's meetings was referred to the Piosratnmfl Committee to report. It was resolved that the Third Eclipse Slakes, to be run al,a 1 , tho Autumn meeting in 18S9, be reduced fo 500-ovs ; secend horse to itceive 50tovs and third horse 25-ov?, in acc-rJance with the conditions ot the raca.

A latter was roceired frcm the Gore Racing Club asking the D.J.C. to place several naiueß on the forfeit list — Afl-er discussion it was resolved that the committee could not see their way to place on the list the names sent by ihe Gore Club ou the sth July, the time ineniioufcil in rule 66, sub-section 3, having expired.

On the application of the North Obago Jcckey Ciub the following were pieced on the forfeit liat :— AV. J. Hoslungs, AU Saint*, £2 ; J. O'Brien, Ferubrook, £1 ; and T. Toomey, Padlock, £2 10.*.

Gentlemen riders' certificates were granted to filesars J. R. Sewell, H. J. Gourley, and Albert E. Ward.

The Secretary reporled that on account of the recent wot weather all work on the plough gallop had been stopped, and ihat there were many places where the wattr lodged. He was now having the plough put thoroughly in order, and abont 120 loads of scil had been caited on ifc. After this had been spread and broken up the whole would be rfploughed and would be ready for woik in about 14- daya it the weather permitted. It was resolved that the training fees for the season hi fixed at £2 per horse, payable halfyearly in advance, and that no person or horse wfcosc name appeared on the unpaid forfeit list should be allowed to train on the club's ground at any time.
