MURDER AND SUICIDE.

Coolgaedie, June 1.

A tragedy was enacted at the hospital last night. A party of nurses, including Mrs Gold, the widow of Captain Gold, were dressed ready to attend a dance, when Feter Snodgrass, a well-known resident-, an ex member of the Victorian Parliament, and a brother of Lady Olarke, called and requested an interview with Mrs Gold. After they had been talking for some time three shots were heard, and both were found lying dead. Mrs Gold was shot in the breast and neck, Snodgrass in the mouth. A revolver was found by the side of Saodgrae*. The cause of the deed is a mystery.

Jane 2.

It is believed that jealousy was the motive of the tragedy in the hospital. Mrs Gold was a great friend of the Snodgrass family. Snodgrasß was opposed to her going to the dance. Ha leaves a wife and several children. The husband of the murdered woman participated in the New Zealand Maori war. He died at Coolgardie last year.
