Canada has annexed Baffinsland, a laTge island to the north-east of Canada, between Hudson's Bay and Davis Strait, in order to" prevent it being seized by America in the event of Hudson Strait connecting Hndso'n'd Bay with the Atlantic and becoming a Canadian grain-cairying route.
