The following applications for land were granted :— Donald M'Millan (Fernhills), William Cuaaen (Longwood), Patrick Mooney (New River Hundred), Charles Lynch (Longwood). A tible was granted to Mary Bgan (Wairio). A transfer of pastoral Run 419, Stewart Island, from Charlton and Thomson to i i-fce National Mortgage and Agency Company was sanctioned.

The ranger reported on the leases formerly held by G. A. Darley and W. J. Darley (Waiau), and revaluations were made iv each casa.

The Tuapeka Times states that Mr W. N". Gooday, who at one time practised there aa a solicit*, was recently appointed to a responsible position in the Customs department. The Timaru Lodge of Druids, which in June last withdrew from connection with the Friendly Societies' (Co - operative) Dispensary, lately made a claim on the.Dispeii3ary .Board f or £140 odd, as their share of the accumulated profits represented by stock, book debts, &c, at the time of their withdrawal.' Judgment was given by the stipendiary magistrate on the 28th for the defendants, with costs £11 19s.
