Serious Accident.— The daughter of Mr William Birth, of Macetown, who is a grown woman and is staying with her father, met with a very serious accident on Wednesday last. On her road home from a visit to some friend«, at about 10 o'clock on the evning in question. Miss Birth, who U very near-sighted. s'>t off her track anri fell ovdr a cliff about 80 *c high, and r<;m lined there all night, not being discovered till 11 o'clock next morning. The night unfortunately pioved veiy rough, wet, and cold, additjg to the injuries leceivod by the fall, which are very serious. Owing to the itjurcd parts being very much swollen the real extent of the injuries cannot yet be ascertained, but it is known that one of the legs is broken and it is feared it is also dislocated at the hip joint. Altogether the unfortunate young v. Oman is in a very bad plight. Mie was conveyed to the Arrow Hospital yesterday, where everything possible is being done done for her. No blame can" be attached to her father for not raising the alarm, as Mis* Birth, who is of weak intellect, is in the habit of staying out with friendly families at Macetown and neighbourhood, aud he had uo reasou to suspect that any ill had befallen his daughter; as she always turned up all right after such visits.
