Notes from Tuapeka.

(From Our Wetherstones Correspondent.)

April 12. — There has not been Rufficient rain here yet to keep the claims in full time. The Local Industry was stopped from working last week, the Phoenix dam being low. They use about 50Uin of water, and they have to elevate the gravel over 60ft I think the Blue Spur mine was also stopped a day or two through being short of water. They use over double the quantity the Local does, and have to lift their wash higher. The hpur ought to have sufficient water f rom this on through the winter to keep them going, for I fancy all the ground about the head of their races is covered with snow.

The Golden Rise has taken out another large paddock. They are still working the two shifts. They use about 200 in of water, and elevate about 20 ft. The average depth of their ground is about lOfh

Mr Gascoigne has had the water-right and race he applied for protected for six months.
