BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TRUSTEES.

The weekly meeting of the Benevolent Institution Trustees was held on the 6tb, aud attended by Messrs A. Solomon (chairman), W. Swan, R. Watson, R. Wilson, and P. Miller.

Accounts amounting to £393 12s lOd were passed for payment. The Secretary reported that David Wilson died in the institution during the wr ek at the age of 36, and that Mary Ann Cook died at the age of 89.

THE BALANCE SHEET.

The balance sheet for the year up to March 31 was' laid on the table, and showed a credit balance of £514 2s sd.

Mr Milleb observed that the amount mentioned included a windfall of £160.

The Chairman said that was so, bub it was Atiafactory to find that they had a credit balance.

Mr Wilson : Was there a credit balance last year ? The Chairman : No ; there was a debit balance of £151 2s 4d.

THE ESTIMATES

The Chairman said tbe Finance Committee bad takeu into consideration the ques.ion of the estimfttss for the ensuing year, and they recommended the trustees to ask the Charitable Aid Board for £10,500. Mr Swan seconded the motioD, which was carried.

Mr John Dryden, manager of the Mosgiel Woollen Fectory, wrote forwarding a cheque for £3, being the amount of a donation from the iem-le workers in the factory. — The donation was- accepted with thanks. Some 35 applications for relief were dealt ■with.
