THE FEDERAL COUNCIL. Hobart, January 30.
At the Federal Coancil, Mr Byrne", Attorney-general of Queensland, moved in favour of making the coancil elective and enlarging its powers. Sir Henry Wrixon proposed an amendment that, pending the holding of the IVd' ration Convention, it is inadvisable to deal with the constitution of the council. The voting being equal, both the amendment and the motion were withdrawn. The sittings have concluded, and the next meeting of the council fixed for Melbourne.
