Sic, — In your issue of January 14, your I Alexandra correspondent, in reply to Mr W. • Fraser's letter re the unfortunate accident to ! one M'Donsld on election day, seems overanxious to get at the facts, and makes statements which are entirely false. Afl to whether Mr Fr&ser would shine as No. 2, or any other number, I have nothing to do with, neither am ■ I sufficiently versed in anatomy to know anything about his kidney. My sola reason for re- : plying is to deny statements made about others — the dfunks who rushed the cart, &c. ; also, about baudagiDg the wrong leg, no refreshment, and a. lob more bunkum. Mr Louden (late of the Dutifitan Hospital), myself, and others assisted Dr Hodge?, got water, bandages, &c , and too much praise cannot be given to Miss ' Cameron, of the Caledonian Hotel, who supplied blankets, pillows, and refreshment (I mean brandy, but perhaps "your own" is a prohibitionist, and might think bda a proper stimulant) to the unfortunate man. The worst part of it ' was both legs were hurt, and to think the doctor should as it were place a poultice on & wooden leg is abunrd and misleading. There was only one man thewor»e for liquor (and that on election day, which speaks volumes for the sobriety of the Ak-xandraites), and Mr Fraser's instructions were to get to thn hospital as quickly and easily as possible, which he did.
