f Fat Cattle.— l 63 head, which formed the week's f supply of beef, contained nothing of good quality. The sale was very dragging. Interior to medium stuff was v<»ry difficult to quit, and a good proportion of the yarding was turned out unsold. Steers broueht £5 to £7 6<> ; heifers, £3 15s to £5 10s ; cows, £3 10s to £5 15s. Bsst beef realised 1 15 dto 18s, and inferior to medium 12s to 14s per , 1001b. ! Fat Sheep. — A much larger yarding of fat sheep j i than of late came forward, containing sumo very I nice lines of wethers and maiden owes fit for ' exporting purposes and some very fair ewe ' mutton, with a larger pioportion than usual of . merino mutton. Beat freezing wethers brought i 11s 6d to 12s 7d— an exhibition line, 13s 2d ; i medium freezing wethers aud mized sexes, 9s to J ! 11s ; inferior wethers and mixed two-tooths, 7s 6d | to 8s 6d ; butchers' best heavy- weight ewes, 8s to 10s ; medium do, 7s to 8s ; inferior, 53 to 63 6d ; 1 merino wethers, 3s 6d to 5s ; ewes_, 2s 3d to 4s 6d. Fat lambs showed a decided improvement in quality, a good proportion being fit for freezing. One of tbe best lines seen in tbe market this season was from Oamaru, the first pen of which topped the market 13? 2d for butchers' purposes, the remainder going for export trade. Buyers operated freely, and a rise of from 6d to 9d per head can be recorded. Beat lambs brought 11s to 13s 2d ; inferior to medium, 7s to 10s 6d. j Figs. — The yarding wag not heavy. Baconers | and porkers were slightly better, selling up to 1 3Jd, and for extra good 3Jd Ib. Smaller sorts I I were difficult to quit. j
