• • July 2, 1896. Eggs. Is 2d. Butter : Salt, 7d (medium) to 9J (for prime). Pigs, 1201b to 1601b, 3S perlb.' Poultry —The following prices were realised at last weeks- sale: Young cocks, 3s ' to 3s 9d per pair ; hens -and old cocks, 2s to 2s 6d per pair ; ducks, 3s 61 to<4s per pair; geese, 5s per pair; turkey?, none offered. Fruit.— Apples : Inferior, 4s 7d. to 4s 8d per case ; prime, 7s 3d to 7s 6d. Business continues good in all department?, and, contrary to general reports, we find this year us great an improvement on last year as that in its turn was on the previous one. Of course we go with the times and keep extending, but we feel, notwithstanding croakers to the contrary, that Otago hss yes a bright future ahead. As another maik of our confidence in it wo are ]vat making extensive further improvements in the front of our stores by putting in a plate glass front which will extend completely across the front of the'building. We expect thealterations to be completed within a week, When we can promise our fiiands a leilly good show.
